Sunart Water Festival

This event is currently on hold, with no 2023 date arranged

We live on the edge of beautiful Loch Sunart. It is a source of great enjoyment by many different communities of people. These communities are coming together to share their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for the water and the specially protected Loch Sunart to create the Sunart Water Festival, in Strontian.

The main aims of the festival are to increase awareness of Loch Sunart, promote safety around the water, promote education and marine biology, and to teach activities and sports.

September 2018 was the launch of the first Sunart Water Festival!

Due to wind forecasts, Sunart Water Festival’s water-based activities had to be cancelled. However, this didn’t stop us! We had a plan B which was a great success. Over 70 people ventured out to take part! We would like to thank the following who helped make the day; Michelle Hilder and Izzy Baker, Laura McConnachie and Richard Livet for their amazing parachute tent, marshmallows and sea-life poster competition, Tim and Lynn at Sunart Camping for their fantastic Viking art work, CAOLAS (Laura Harvey and Annabel Lawrence), The Bothy Bar and Restaurant, Owen Sails, and Sunart Community Company directors for the burger stall and to everyone who donated raffle prizes.

We also would like to thank both the Sunart Community Benefit Fund and Sunart Community Council for their grant support which made this first festival possible.
