Two exciting (and FREE!) events happening locally this Saturday afternoon. Find out more below! Our next FREE Wellbeing and Nature-Mindfulness Walk (and the penultimate walk of the year) will be next Saturday, 7th August in the Ardery Woods from 1:30 to 3pm. It will be a leisurely walk and you will be invited and encouraged to connect with the natural world around you through your five senses (vision, smell, hearing, touch, and taste) and to slow down (both physically and mentally). These walks are designed to reduce stress and anxiety and help you to relax. You can register at darachcroft.com/wellbeing-walks.
After the walk, from 3-5pm, Nic from Ewen's Room will be running an Ephemeral Eco-Art Workshop where we will work together to gather both materials and inspiration from our outdoor location, and create a piece of creative ephemeral art. Ephemeral art is temporary – probably the very best example is a sandcastle or a snowman! You can find out more and register for this workshop, or both the walk and the workshop by emailing Nic at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Two of our local #wildswimmers, Nic and Justine, were recently interviewed on the Nevis Radio Wellbeing Wednesday show, where they chatted all about their outdoor adventures on Loch Sunart. Listen back below!Last week on the Nevis Radio #wellbeingwednesdayshow Justine and Nic from Ewen's Room joined Becky to chat all about the wellbeing benefits of wild swimming. If you'd like to learn more you can listen back at the mix cloud link below. Do check out their blog post too!
I am well aware of the strength of feeling about the short-term lets debate. Whilst it is a complex and multi-faceted problem with no easy answers, I hope that the debate centres around facts rather than unfounded fears. Furthermore, if we are serious about tackling the West Highland housing crisis, then I believe that this needs to be a much broader discussion than previously. I urge all Highlanders to respond to this consultation using the link below.
