June Community Company Update

We are delighted to say that Oakwood has been busy and a great success since opening in March this year. Our local producers are doing well selling a great range of high-quality work, including photographic prints, felted scarfs, tea cosies, bags and purses, coasters, jewelery, glassware, handmade soaps, cards and much more! We also sell a wonderful selection of books focusing on the area, its wildlife and culture, as well as maps and walking guides.

The visitor information aspect has proven to be very important and valued by visitors. We have received a huge amount of positive comments about the transformation and what a high quality, friendly and lovely shop it is.

Our team of enthusiastic volunteers have done a brilliant job getting Oakwood up and running and working behind the till, offering an insight into our vibrant community and giving valuable tourist information services.

So, a huge well done to everyone involved!

Can you help us?  We can only open the Centre for as long as volunteers can be there.  But there is only so much each person can do. We really need more volunteers. Can you help us? You don’t have to be a craft producer; just enjoy meeting folk. You will need to learn how to use the till, but we’ll show you how to do that. You can do as many or few hours as you like. Please pop in to have a look and get in touch with Izzy for more info.

Potential purchase of Longrigg Woodland.  Currently our consultants are preparing a more detailed report, and we are continuing with local consultations to shape the project.

Please contact izzy@sunartcommunitycompany.co.uk or on 07890 689 946 if you would like more information or to get involved in any projects.
