April 2023 Update

Sunart Community Census and Questionnaire

Many of you will have seen from our last update that we have been busy organising a number of events, to follow on from our community consultation survey, which highlighted topics of importance to Sunart residents. These events were organised with the aim of exploring these topics further, so that we can start planning positive action together as a community.

Events included:

  • Walk the Paths of Strontian with ranger Eilidh-Ann Phillips
  • Community Meal and chat about social events in Strontian
  • Community Dinner and chat about food sharing systems
  • Meeting about Car Share Scheme (organised alongside Urram).

Thank you to the Strontian Village Hall committee, Lochaber Countryside Rangers (special mention to Eilidh-Ann!), Café Sunart, The Bothy Bar, Ariundle Centre, and Urram, for helping us to make these events happen.

We were delighted to see so many people join us, to share their views on topics that are important to them. We will be holding further events during April, including some Zoom meetings, to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to our community consultation. Visit page (NIC – CAN YOU INSERT DTD PAGE NUMBER FOR THE AD PLEASE) to find out more, and to take a look at key dates. Or, if you have any questions, please email becky@sunartcommunitycompany.co.uk.

Oakwood:

Some of you may have spotted them already while on your travels, but we are excited to announce that our solar panels have now been installed on the Oakwood Visitor Centre! Thanks to grants by CARES Energy Saving Trust and SSE renewables, the panels will help to reduce not only electricity costs, but our carbon footprint.
