Moving on

After three an a half years with the Community Company Izzy Baker will be leaving us at the end of March as she has secured a new role as Warden at the Glenborrodale RSPB Reserve. The Board wish Izzy the best of luck and are especially grateful for her enthusi-asm and hard work which has helped take the company so far in a relatively short space of time.

She will still be living in the village, so we should still have the benefit of her cheery smile. All the best, Izzy.

We Are Hiring!

Fortunately for us, whilst Izzy prepares to hand over the reins, Oakwood is currently shut for a couple of months whilst our hard working band of local crafters make more stock for the coming season. The shop will reopen at the end of March.

However, the success of Oakwood means that we are in a position to employ a part time co-ordinator with regular hours throughout the year. We are now advertising the post and anyone wishing to apply should contact the Secretary for an application pack. Please see the job advertisement elsewhere in this issue of De tha Dol?

Can you help?

The Community Company continues to grow, and is trying to deliver numerous projects for the benefit of everyone in the community. Our immediate projects for the next year, as well as Oakwood, will be the repair of the jetty and conversion of the ‘green shed’ to a changing area, and increasing car parking at the jetty, footpaths management, opening a new larger Mens Shed with space for a crafting room and workshop and of course running the Water Festival, Burger Stall on Show Day and the Christmas Auction.

At the last AGM we had to say goodbye to several Directors without being able to replace them. We are now in need of help. We are really keen to hear from anyone who feels they could spare a little time to help, either as a Director, or to help with other jobs such as book keeping, website, social media, fundraising and events etc. Please get in touch. Water Festival: a date for your diary

This year the Water Festival is going to be part of ‘Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters 2020’. Instead just one day full of activities there will be a range of events taking place from the 24th to the 29th August. Most importantly there will be a traditional ceilidh on the evening of Friday 28th August – put the date in your diary now!
