Our Spring/Summer 2026 Newsletter is here!

Our Spring/Summer 2026 newsletter is here, and there’s a lot to catch up on!

This issue captures a busy season across SCC projects, with the biggest headline being continued harvesting progress at Longrigg Community Woodland, after years of planning, seeing real activity on the ground marks a major milestone for the community.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Longrigg Woodland: harvesting continues at pace, a new Woodland Management Plan is underway, and community engagement events are coming to Strontian on 19th and 20th June.
  • Strontian Playpark: fundraising has passed £51,981 of the £85,000 target, boosted by a £20,000 SCBF award and a half marathon effort from local runner Caitlin Hilder.
  • Oakwood: reopened for the season with a new manager, Laura Wilson, taking the reins from Karyn Simpkinson, plus new makers joining the shop.
  • Sunart Rainforest Project: development phase and early delivery work now complete, with rhododendron control, deer management and propagation infrastructure all progressing.
  • Dualchas – Sunart Heritage: building on last year’s community buyout of Strontian Parish Church, with archive work, a heritage trail and an open weekend already under way.
  • Craft Hub & Men’s Shed: popular workshops, funding for new improvements and an exciting second site planned at Polloch.
  • Sunart Community Benefit Fund: over £330,000 distributed since the Fund began, with the latest Spring round awarding around £64,000 to local projects.
  • Updates on Strontian Jetty, Sunart Footpath Volunteers, recent SCC socials and news from the Board.

This issue shows just how much momentum is building across Sunart right now, and there’s plenty more to look forward to across the remainder of 2026.
