Dualchas Heritage Group/Community Church Building Buyout
Thank you to everyone who attended our July Community Consultation event, regarding the community purchase of Strontian Church. 27 people joined us, and it was great to see so much support from the community to proceed with negotiations of the purchase. To view a recent financial feasibility study conducted, please visit the following link: https://sunartcommunitycompany.co.uk/directory/dualchas-sunart-heritage-group/
Volunteer Vacancies:
Directors – We are looking for new committee members based in Sunart! We even have spaces for folk who actually don’t live here permanently but would like to do their bit – please get in touch!. The committee meets every 6 weeks to work on community initiatives and help manage our local properties.
Awarding Grants – can you spare FIVE HOURS PER YEAR? Yes – that is all the commitment we are asking for to help sit on the Sunart Community Benefit Fund Panel. The community company does all the admin so all you need to do is read the meeting papers and come along twice a year to a meeting to help decide how much money to give to community groups from the cash donated by the Sunart Community Hydro. Email enquiries@sunartcommunitycompany.co.uk to find out more.
Sunart Show
The Burger Stall was a sell-out of absolutely everything and raising well over £1000 for the community company. Thanks go to John MacDonald (Strontian) for supplying the venison and Lochaber for assisting with the beef burgers, as well as all the volunteers who helped on the day. Photo evidence of the last burger being enjoyed by a Mull ‘chick’:
