Craft Hub Comeback

Introducing Annie Harpur: New Coordinator for theSunart Craft Hub and Men’s Shed.

We’re delighted to welcome Annie Harpur as the new part-time Coordinator for the Sunart Craft Hub and Men’s Shed, a role she began at the end of July. After an initial tour of the portacabin, Annie has hit the ground running, working hard to bring both the Men’s Shed and Craft Hub to full operation. Through a series of meetings and conversations, she’sbeen engaging with individuals keen to get involved andhelp shape these exciting community projects.

Several key actions have emerged from these discussions. Local builders have been invited to submit quotes for essential floor repairs, and plans are underway to remove two interior walls, creating larger and more functional workshop spaces.

Once the portacabin is cleared, a complete inventory of the existing tools will also be carried out.Annie is also reviewing valuable feedback from a previous community consultation. The consultation generated some excellent ideas, such as creating a skill-sharing space, setting up a tool library, hosting a repair café, and offering dedicated workshop space for local crafters. In addition, Annie is collaborating with the local Paths group to explore partnership opportunities with the Hub’s volunteers.

The current plan is to clear and strim the outdoor area, transforming it into a practical workspace and a welcoming social space for the community.

If you’re interested in learning more about this exciting new community initiative, have ideas for craft sessions or woodworking groups, or would like to volunteer, please get in touch with Annie at crafthub@sunartcommunitycompany.co.uk
