After nearly three years of hard work, we’re delighted to announce that the transfer of ownership of the Strontian Church building is now complete.
Thanks to the support of the Scottish Land Fund and the Sunart Community Benefit Fund, this iconic building will stay at the heart of our community – continuing to host Sunday worship while being transformed into a heritage hub and space for local events.
“The volunteers of Dualchas are really pleased that at long last we can start working on a permanent home for the Sunart Archive and the many historical artefacts, books, and photographs we’ve collected,” said Sarah Traynor, Chair of Dualchas.
“This acquisition could not have happened without community support,” added SCC Director James Hilder. “Almost 70% of respondents backed the idea in 2022, and now it’s a reality.”
